Mother's Day Service with Jason & DeMarco

Sunday, May 13, 10:00 am

Join us on Mother's Day for this special worship service featuring Jason & DeMarco, a Christian singing duo whose openness about their sexuality often pits them against the Christian community, while their faith at times meets with resistance from the gay community.

Jason & deMarco have performed at numerous high profile events including the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Awards in Los Angeles, the Matthew Shepard Foundation's annual gala in Denver, and the 2006 Human Rights Campaign Gala in New York. Their performance, alongside artists such as Christina Aguilera, Pink, and The Dixie Chicks, is a part of the Human Rights Campaign benefit CD--"Love Rocks"--celebrating marriage equality." Recently they released a new album, "The Oneness of Praise."

AIDS Candlelight Memorial

Sunday, May 20, 5:30 pm

King of Peace MCC will host the 2012 Candlelight AIDS Memorial, whose theme is "promoting health and dignity together."  The service will combine a memorial with celebration.

Our Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Candace R. Shultis will give the welcome and be joined in the prayers and readings throughout the interfaith service by Cantor Judith Ovoedi, Congregation B'Nai Israel (Clearwater); Rev. Dave Coyle, LivingStones Church (Largo); and Rev. John Hicks, First Presbyterian Church (Dunedin).

The Choir from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church will sing and the AIDS Memorial Bells will toll as candle are lit in memory of those who have lost their lives.

The first International AIDS Candlelight Memorial started in 1983 and continues to be the world's largest grassroots movement against HIV/AIDS and one of the longest running public health campaigns in the country.
